the Seven Information Processes

ACTIVITY

1) For each of the following processes, list as many methods of completing the process that you can:
- Collecting: interviews, exams, surveys, scanning, radio transmissions, photographs, keyboard entries
- Storing and Retriveing: Hard drive, USB ( memory stick, portable devices) - universal serial buss, Online storage, CDs, paper based filing
- Transmitting and Receiving: bluetooth, WiFi, mobile phone, infra-red, Micro SDs
- Displaying: monitor screen, hard copies (paper), audio, video, text, still images.

2) Categorise the following as one of the seven information processes:
- Scanning a Document: Collecting
- Averaging a set of test scores: Analysing
- Uploading a file to a website: Transmitting
- Resizing an image: Processing
- Converting to a different file type: Processing
- Playing a sound file on your mp3 player: Displaying
- Importing a text file into a database: Collecting
- Compressing a file to reduce its file size: Processing
- Saving to USB flash memory: Storing
- Sending an email: Transmitting
- Opening an attachment: Receiving
- Converting a word document to a pdf file: Processing

3) Identify the seven processes involved in using an email system:
- What is collected by the system? How?
Emails containing text, attachment, multimedia files and contact info

- How is the data organised?
By HTML

- How is the data analysed?
Emails are sorted by threads

- How is the data processed?
Manipulation of threads

- How is the data stored and retrived?
